The blog name and its Inception:

Mania:
An excessive enthusiasm or desire; an obsession.

Origin of Scripting Mania:

In my Graduate years I am a bad programmer. For doing simple arithmetic operation I wrote a big C program. When my faculty showed me how to do it in simpler way, I thought I should not choose Software development as my carrier. I am a lazy person by heart, try to escape from work and enjoy my time with family and friends. But Linux administration with automation skills is killer combination. And one more situation which prompted me to deviate my resources to scripting and programming is requirement of changing DNS Bind server version number. There is no direct Linux/Unix command to do that. We have to know a bit of C language to edit BIND software C files. At this point I realised that admin knowledge with scripting/Programming knowledge is a mandatory requirement when you have couple of years of experience. If you observe some leading Scripting Languages like Perl and Python, those are actually developed by System administrators. These things prompted me to learn them and I found that its very much easy to learn these languages, if we have passion. I am addicted and mad to writing scripts in Shell/Perl/Python/Ruby whichever suits best for that situation to reduce administration load on me.
